Here Sri Chinmoy explains how these two aspects are actually one and the same, in the sense that our true freedom lies in the discovery of our own potential, achieved by virtue of our intense inner cry and by conducting our lives in a vein of discipline.
“I feel always (that) discipline leads us to perfection. Everybody gets joy when there is perfection in his life or somebody else’s life. So if we listen to the dictates of our inner being, then discipline comes automatically (…) Even in the road, there are four lanes. If you are in your lane and I am in my lane, there is no collision. … Now we are enjoying the finite existence. But the moment we cry to enjoy the infinite, divine existence, we will be able to free ourselves from the meshes of ignorance that we are consciously enjoying right now, here, there and elsewhere.”
