On May 6 and 7, 2006 the 18th Self-Transcendence 12 and 24 hour race took place in Basel, hosted by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. 129 runners from around Europe came and had a wonderful time. They enjoyed the powerful musical assistance of Japaka Orchestra who came specially from Slovakia for this event. This is the first time a 24-hour Swiss Championship has been organized.

Dorothea Vögeli (SCMT) with 171 km and Christian Fatton, 242 km, took the lead. The first woman in the international category was Rosario Munoz-Olivares from Spain (see picture above with the Spanish team leader) with an excellent distance of nearly 206 km.
